Laptop Computer Donation Program

The Kingston Historical Society wants your functional-but-not-Windows 11 up-gradable computer as a charitable donation! We need a few simple laptops for:

  • Data Entry
  • Interactive Display Kiosks
  • Database Maintenance
  • Documenting Interviews and Events
  • Traveling Presentations

We are interested in re-building older Windows 7, 8 or 10 laptop computers in working order with a working Display, Wifi, Power Supply, and Battery.

We will be modifying your laptop to add a new hard drive and operating system. We will be remove your hard drive (file system) and give it to you to save or destroy.

We will give you the hard drive and a letter of donation and thanks from our 501(c)3 organization.

Because we will be removing the hard drive in front of you, we ask you to donate in person(or send someone you designate.) We will plan donation times at the Kingston Locktender’s House for this process.
Please fill out the form below and we will arrange a day and time via e-mail.

We are looking for reliable but out of date (not Windows 11 compatible) PC laptops, and will provide a Donation Letter to you.
We will send you an e-mail to arrange a date and time for donation.
If you “checked all the boxes” then we are interested in receiving your donation. Note that we will only take in-person donations scheduled with this form.
Sorry, no Macs (not that they aren’t good computers!) And no Windows 95, XP, etc.
We will remove your hard drive and give it back to you– for you to save or destroy. We are looking to get enough computers programmed with Linux by November. If we say “no thank you” it means we have already accepted too many.
Volunteer!
