Tea Time Talks- January

January 25 @ 2:30 pm 4:00 pm

The Kingston Historical Society returns to the Kingston United Methodist Church for afternoon tea and presentations. We are preparing three talks for January.

On Sunday, January 25th the feature talk will be reminiscences of George Allen, Kingston’s first Locktender. The early years of the 19th century were far from a golden age in America. Allen’s life was full of hardship until he was hired in 1834 to operate the Lock and Swing Bridge at Kingston on the newly opened Delaware and Raritan Canal. His autobiography is both surprising and dramatic.

The goal of our winter Tea Time Talks is to spread awareness of Kingston’s 300-plus years of recorded history through stories and research. The afternoon will include two other short presentations, followed by tea and questions in the Methodist Church social
hall.
